Before you listen…
Please look after yourself while listening, as these stories include themes of drug and alcohol addiction, homelessness, genocide, illness, suicide and depression. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander viewers are advised that this exhibition may contain the names, images and voices of people now passed and resting in the Dreaming.
Once you’ve listened, we invite you to write down your own stories of loneliness and togetherness in the form below. Help us demonstrate the power for connection in the things we share as humans. Help us show that loneliness is nothing to be ashamed of.
If you need further support, reach out to Lifeline on 13 11 14. We also invite you to visit our “Ways to Reconnect” page for additional resources and available services.

What we know to be true, is that loneliness affects us all - regardless of our age, or how many friends we have. The more we allow ourselves to talk, the easier it is to see and reach for the help and support that is out there. Sometimes just having an honest conversation is all we really need to feel less lonely - even if that’s just with ourselves.
You might find that by sharing your story in this way, you’ve connected more with yourself and what’s true for you right now. You also might find that you feel part of something bigger that directly helps others to feel less shame. Both are powerful anecdotes for loneliness.
Your written story will be shared publicly on our website, along with your first name only. All other information will be kept private and confidential.
We thank you for being brave enough to share your story.
